The Number 7 Lights Up

img_0594The new indicator lights on the NYC Subway’s 7 Train are a godsend. Previously the 7 Train, which runs local and express on weekdays, often had an identity crisis. The only signage difference was the purple shape surrounding the number 7 (local was a purple circle and express, a purple diamond), but they were never correct.

So, riders would have to listen carefully every time they boarded and if they didn’t hear the conductor’s announcement, they might end up several stations past the desired stop. But now, this is less of a problem because the indicators are now green circles and red diamonds, they light up and are controlled by a single switch. The confusion is gone! Thanks MTA! Now if only congestion problems can be resolved next, that would be even better.
